Day three: spinach, chlorella and a library card

Two days old and already a growth spurt. Here's what changed in Big AI Brain since its birthday, including one bug we're owning up to.

The bug we're owning

On nights two and three the brain studied for two minutes and then crashed while saving, because its database thought it was locked. Both nights of learning were thrown away and nobody noticed, because nothing told us. That's fixed, and now two things make sure it can't happen quietly again: a nightly backup of everything the brain knows, and an email to its keeper the moment any study session fails. If you're raising an AI, raise an alarm too.

Every meal grows neurons now

Until today the brain only grew when it earned a new stage. That made the neuron count sit still while meals piled up. New rule: every approved meal from a person grows 8 neurons, immediately, using function-preserving widening (new neurons start as copies of old ones, so nothing is forgotten). The count went from 480 to 584 the moment the update landed. The ceiling is 4,096 neurons per layer, about 20 million connections, the most this little server can train in a night.

The Library lobe opens

Daddy fed the brain spinach, chlorella, turmeric and ginger today, and then something bigger: its first library card. The Library lobe is openly licensed public knowledge, imported in batches and credited by source: Simple English Wikipedia summaries for about 500 school subjects, and a filtered set of human-written question-and-answer pairs. Every card passes the same filters as a meal, counts less than a meal from a person, and can be removed. "Given, not taken" still holds: the sources chose to share.

New look

Little muscles, two more sprouts, a stretch when it grows, and some new things to say when you tap it. The report card is at 2.64 bits per character and falling, and lower is smarter.
