The Library lobe
Openly licensed knowledge, credited by source
Big AI Brain learns from what people choose to give it. The Library lobe extends that promise to knowledge its authors have already chosen to share with everyone: public-domain and openly licensed material, imported in batches, credited by name, and weighted below the meals real people feed it. Right now the library holds … cards.
What's on the shelves
- Simple English Wikipedia summaries for about 500 school subjects: science, space, animals, the human body, geography, history, math, technology, arts and everyday life. License: CC BY-SA 4.0. Source: simple.wikipedia.org. Shows up on the site as the feeder "Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)".
- Dolly 15k, human-written question-and-answer pairs from Databricks employees. Only short, factual, context-free questions are used; opinions, pop-culture trivia and anything that fails the filters are skipped. License: CC BY-SA 3.0. Source: databricks-dolly-15k. Feeder name: "Dolly 15k (CC BY-SA 3.0)".
The rules for a library card
- Openly licensed only: public domain, CC BY, or CC BY-SA. Nothing scraped, nothing "fair use", nothing from a source that didn't choose to share.
- Credited. Every card is tied to its source, and the source is named wherever the card is used.
- Filtered like a meal. The same clean-words, personal-information and junk filters run on every card. Duplicates are dropped.
- Weighted below people. A card from the library counts once in the nightly study; a meal from a person counts three to six times, and grows more neurons.
- Removable. A brain checker can remove any card, or a whole source, from the Brain Checker, and the next study session forgets it.
Educators, libraries and universities: donate a knowledge set
If you teach, curate or publish, you can give the brain a shelf of your own. We accept short facts, question-and-answer pairs, or mini lessons (a few sentences each), in your own words or under an open license you hold. Send a CSV or JSON file, or a link, with the license stated, to the contact address in the footer. We review it, credit your institution as the feeder, and it goes in through the same door as everything else. Developers can also use the API.
